One of the things you must do to master PPC is to master copywriting. In fact, as my internet mentor says, “What Pay Per Click marketing actually is something else and that something else is (pretty much) direct marketing on speed.” You get your results and feedback much quicker and you get the truest test of what your ad, landing page, and sales funnel does. In fact, if you have money, then building a business on Pay Per Click first might make the most sense, because once you know what your website does and your ad does, then you can roll that same ad out to other media like: print, television, radio, and whatever other source you can find.

So Pay Per Click just might be the truest form of advertising because there is no middle man. You can select who you want to target and you only talk to them (as long as your keyword research is good). For instance, if I’m looking for sedation dentistry clients in Portland then I’m not going to go out there and make an ad for “catfish for sale in Portland”. No, I’m going to write an ad for “Portland Sedation Dentist”.

So the question becomes (after I’ve properly selected my target audience and my target keyword), “Can I get this person to click and can I get them to convert on my website?” So what you’re talking about here is the master of persuasive language. Sales people know how to do this but most of them can’t do in letter form. They can only sell face to face which limits them from ever making a lot of money and deters them from ever being able to sell within a system that doesn’t require them to close. For internet marketers the closing happens online and most of the time, it doesn’t require them to close the sale.

If you want to master PPC then one of the most important things you can do is to master the skill of copywriting. You have to learn how to write persuasive copy and test it against traffic to see if it actually works. This is where statistical relevance comes into play. If you can test it, and you can tweak it then you have a system to you can tweak until it hits its maximum effectiveness.
